Milwaukee Chamber Theatre (MCT) was born in 1975, the brainchild of two local actors, Montgomery Davis and his muse, and partner-in-crime, Ruth Schudson. They envisioned a space where audiences could open their minds to new theatrical ideas and Milwaukee's theatre professionals could broaden their skills and apply their craft.
For decades, Ruth has been a priceless asset to our theatre community both onstage and off, sharing her gifts as a performer, mentor, role model and friend. In honor of her enormous contributions, we have created The Ruth Schudson Leading Lady Fund to support the work of one actress on the MCT stage each season. This fund will allow us to continue our commitment to hiring local artists of the highest caliber, and to help offset the trend of corporate foundation and government agencies redirecting monies away from the arts. The Ruth Schudson Leading Lady Fund not only pays tribute to this treasure of Milwaukee theatre, but allows MCT to establish a more self-sustaining focus for the future. Your gift will help us continue to realize the mission that Ruth imagined when she co-founded MCT over 36 years ago, and ensure her legacy for generations to come.
