The tavern keeper's daughter

A collaboration with Skylight Music Theatre

Book, Music & Lyrics by Brett Ryback

Monday, February 27, 2012 - 7:30 p.m.

Director: Ray Jivoff
Music Director: Ruben Piirainen
Cast: Ryan Cappleman, Karen Estrada, Tommy Hahn, Bob Hirschi, Amanda Hull, Josh Krause, Rick Pendzich, Rana Roman

A Muskego native, Ryback's musical was inspired by the story of his grandparents' courtship.

Returning home to Milwaukee from WWII, Lenny, a young Polish marine, finds himself arranged to marry the tavern keeper's daughter from the bar across the street. Wanting more than a small town life, he runs off to New York City, where he meets Wanda, a spunky young woman trying to make something of herself in the Big Apple. Together they embark on a hilarious and heartwarming journey of self-discovery and romance, complete with a kooky, chorus-dancing gypsy, two mischievous gangster brothers, and the villainous godfather of the Polish mafia.

The Tavern Keeper's Daughter is a brand-new, throwback musical that celebrates that home is what you choose to make of it.

The reading will be in Broadway Theatre Center's Cabot Theatre, 158 N. Broadway.

The reading is free with donations kindly accepted. Seating is first-come, first-served.

Dinner & refreshments available in the Skylight Bar & Bistro beginning at 5:30 p.m.

2011-12 Staged Reading #1:

October, before i was born

by Lori Matthews

Monday, September 19, 2011- 7:30 p.m.

Directed by C. Michael Wright
Featuring Michael Cotey, Raeleen McMillion, April Paul & Ken Williams

An hour after the 1960 explosion at Tennessee Eastman Company, three family members await word on the fate of their loved ones employed there. Martha, Anne and Houston are stranded at the family's rural farm house with only limited access to information about the unfolding disaster. The tension of the day and their misguided efforts to cope with the situation create a different kind of explosion-this one caused by the combustion of tempers, frustrations and fears.

The reading will be in The Skylight Bar & Bistro, 2nd Floor, Broadway Theatre Center, 158 N. Broadway. Open for dinner starting at 5:30 p.m. Call Kafevino at 414-224-4900 to make a reservation.

The reading is free with donations kindly accepted. Seating is first-come, first-served. Patrons are encouraged to arrive early.
